  • A November to Remember

I don't really know how to put into words what I'm thinking and feeling right now.  Overall, I'm thankful.  Things could always be much worse, and I have Virginia and Dane to thank for always keeping that thought right near the surface.  Flashing back to when Virginia was teaching our class in the copy room at Prince Rd. on Wednesday nights, one of us was complaining about something that had happened to us that day (I really don't remember which of us it was.).  Virginia simply said, "Well, it could be worse."  We all were quiet after she said that, until Dane piped up and said, "Yeah!  A jet airplane could have crashed into your closet."  As I recall, and it still holds true to present day, that would indeed be worse.

I'm thankful for the roof over my head, the heat in my house, the food in my belly, my healthy newborn, my 'getting healthier now' older children, my always helpful and capable husband, my spiritual family, the advances in medicine revealed to man by God, and the hope of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.  With all these things in my life, it would be disgusting of me to complain.  So, I won't.

Here are some pictures of the kids from last week.  We need to get the camera going again this week for more current Silas pictures.

Silas is sportin' his doggy duds from Jess & Callie.

This happens to be a very snuggly outfit as well.

Greetings from the land of Motrin & Tylenol (almost 2 weeks ago):

    "That's good stuff, Mom."

    Img_1702_sm

"Makes me feel a lil' out of it, Mom."

And now for some Silas silliness:

    Img_1714_sm

    "Say "No" to flash photography!"

    Img_1719_sm

"I'll just stop looking at it."

    Img_1720_sm

    "She's still taking pictures."

    Img_1692_sm

"Guess I'll just pose real cute-like."

    Img_1717_sm

"And always finish with a smile!"

Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers for me and my family.  May God bless you and yours abundantly!

  • Tuesday the Tenth...

    ...of November.

Things are still moving kinda slow here, but we're doing pretty well.  Kevin is still off from work, so that has been a huge blessing!  We're very thankful for all the thoughts, prayers, food, and gifts that have been coming our way since Silas' arrival.  Family, both spiritual and physical, is a wonderful thing!

Right now, Moses is still under the weather, but he's being very sweet about it.   I hope he's the only one that gets this 'stuff'.

Here's a few pictures of the kids since that's the payoff for checking xanga.

    Gearing up for basketball season:

    Time to switch!

    Img_1602_sm

These kids have a lot of growin' to do, I guess.

And on to our third child...

    Img_1622_sm

No hoodie for Silas.  No clothes either, apparently.  (Don't worry, he has plenty of clothes.  This must have been during one of many wardrobe changes.)

And here is what Silas looked like just last night.

    He's growing so fast!

    Have a nice day.

  • Silas is Golden!

He's a blonde, by the way.

This is old news now, but last week we welcomed our third child into this world.  Silas didn't come the anticipated way, and, instead, chose to take charge of his birth plan.  He went from a happy transverse, to oblique, to complete breech in the span of 30 minutes.  So much for the thought that babies run out of room to move around towards the end.   Newborns:  I highly recommend.  C-sections:  Yikes.  That's all I gotta say about that.

Here's me holding Silas for the first time.

    "Yep, he was worth it!"

Kevin held him in the PCU (Progressive Care Unit:  They observed Silas for about an hour to make sure he wasn't going to pull any more shenanigans.), so this is him holding Silas for the 2nd time.

    Silas Alonzo...

...ready for battle.  In his case, he was fighting to stay inside me.

    Tough guy.

A little cross-eyed but still cute.

    "Who you callin' cross-eyed, Momma?"

    Ready to go!

Emerald was glad to see her little brother.

She likes to kiss him, and every time she sees his umbilical cord stump she gets very sad for Silas.  She says, "He has owie?"  She's very sweet.

I took some pictures of him while he wa sunning himself.  Kevin decided to black & white this one.

    Little, little toes.

The morning sunlight tends to turn things kinda pink.

I hope all this love lasts a lifetime.

Grandpa Woody came by for a couple of days, and he was a huge help with the older kids.  He got in plenty of Silas time, but the older kids really enjoyed the attention they were getting from Grandpa.  He even let Moses cut his hair.

    Grandpa is a good client.

And here's what we do best right now at the Morton household:

    "Zzzzz..."

We are praising God for His watching over Silas and I through all of this.  Thank you for all your prayers, and your continued prayers for my recovery.  Hopefully, every day will continue to bring more healing and strength.  God is Good!

  • Monday Evening Post

Ever since we took their picture a few weeks ago in their pjs, they think that we should always take a pj picture before bedtime.  Here's one:

    Img_1380_sm

Moses is definitely growing up too fast for me.

Here he is getting his hairs cut in our new (to us) barber chair (Thanks, Aunt Kimber & my husband!).  You can't see it, but it's there.

    Img_1382_sm

    Ready!

    Img_1388_sm

All done!  (That is NOT an MU shirt.  Just so we're clear.)

Coincedentally, it's time for me to give him another haircut.  I'm off to do that once I'm done with this xanga post.

How old will Emerald be when she's allowed to get her hair cut?

    Img_1385_sm

10 is a good guess, but we'll just have to see.  I'll trim it (haven't needed to yet), but I don't want to cut for as long as possible.  I have Daddy's full backing on this one too. :)

    Img_1387_sm

    Wild pigtails!

    Some fall follies...

They like their lawnchairs.  Thanks, Grammaw Woody.

    Moses took this picture:

    Img_1395_sm

Check out my man's practically perfect smile!  Praise God for His healing power!

And here is our beautiful tree with our color-coordinated son:

    Img_1394_sm

"Do you think I'll be as tall as this tree one day?"

    We shall see...

"Before I formed thee in the belly

    I knew thee..."

    Jeremiah 1:5

Number 3 is almost ready!  The ultrasound tech surprised us by going 4D at the end of the sonogram.  I feel like we're cheating by getting to see so much detail, but, WOW!, I am so in love with this baby even more!

(We're waiting to find out if it's a boy or a girl, but for ease of captioning I'll use the masculine.)

    twinkie6

Sucking on his left hand while his right hand is tucked up by his ear.  (That's not hair on the upper right.  That's my womb.  We did see a lot of hair on his head earlier in the sonogram though.)

    twinkie5

Taking a break from sucking.  Look at all that chubbiness!

    twinkie4

    Nothin' like chillin' inside Momma.

    twinkie3

A clearer picture of his cute right hand.

    twinkie2

A little more definition on the nose in this pic.

    twinkie1

    Oh, Baby!

Thanks for all your prayers so far.  We hope to meet this one in person by the end of the month!

    "I will praise thee;

for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:

    marvelous are thy works;

and that my soul knoweth right well."

    Psalm 139: 14
